Newsweek

Obama and the world (kind of) V Qaddafi

The impression I get from listening to Obama is that he thinks he can get Qaddafi to leave the country with a combination of political and economic pressure, combined with military threat. Obama is getting as many countries and organizations involved as he can in order to show the dictator what kind of pressure he is under as well as to mitigate the power of the United States for (in his opinion) a stronger world community. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Personally, I think it would be very effective if we were dealing with a rational human. However, the irrational are frustratingly squirmy and stubborn in ways we cannot predict. That leads us to the question everyone is asking: How far are we willing to go?

Libyan War Double Think

What Orwell missed is the big sister. The family is bigger than anticipated. Big brother and big sister are usually in agreement but on the rare time they become diametrically opposed their double talk becomes blatantly clear.

2008
D Wars in middle east double plus ungood
R Wars in middle east double plus good
2011
D wars in the middle east double plus good
R wars in the middle east double plus ungood

This allows us to be at peace and at war with East Asia simultaneously. The double think churning in the brains of the talking heads is palpable.
